Nagpur: In a major preventive action ahead of the Bakri Eid festival, the Nagpur Police Commissionerate has issued temporary externment orders against several individuals under Section 163(2) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) to maintain law and order and ensure communal harmony in the city. The action has been taken as part of intensified security measures to prevent any disturbance to public peace during the festive period.

According to police officials, strict surveillance and preventive measures are being implemented across Zone No. 03 to ensure that Bakri Eid celebrations are conducted peacefully and safely. Authorities stated that incidents related to the illegal transportation of banned cattle species and the sale of beef during the festival period could potentially trigger communal tension and disturb social harmony. Considering the possibility of law and order issues, the police have taken action against individuals identified as having criminal tendencies and the potential to disrupt public peace.

Officials said that notices were served to the concerned individuals and their side was heard before the externment orders were issued. The decision was also based on confidential and technical intelligence inputs received by the police department. Under the temporary externment order, the identified individuals have been prohibited from entering the limits of Nagpur City and Nagpur Rural from May 21, 2026, to May 31, 2026. Police have warned that any violation of the externment order will invite stricter legal action.

As part of the preventive drive, a total of 78 actions have been taken under Section 163(2) of BNSS, including 22 cases under Pachpaoli Police Station and 56 cases under Tahsil Police Station limits. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, and Additional Commissioner of Police (North Region) Rajendra Dabhade.

Police officials stated that the administration is fully committed to ensuring that Bakri Eid is celebrated in a peaceful and secure atmosphere. Citizens have also been urged not to pay attention to rumors and to immediately inform the nearest police station if they notice any suspicious activity.
