Nagpur: In a citizen-centric initiative, the Zone 3 Police recovered and returned 122 lost mobile phones to their rightful owners in Zone-3, bringing smiles to citizens who had feared losing valuable personal data, photographs, videos, and important documents forever.
The special drive was undertaken as part of a people-friendly policing initiative conceptualised by the Nagpur Police Commissioner to trace lost mobile phones and return them to their original owners.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-3) Rahul Madne and the leadership of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Lakadganj Division) Shivprasad Parwe. Complaints received at Lakadganj, Pachpaoli, Shantinagar, Tahsil, Ganeshpeth and Kotwali police stations were collectively scrutinised, following which a dedicated search operation was launched.
Mobiles Tracked Through CEIR and Technical Analysis
During the campaign, specially constituted Missing Mobile Search Teams from the respective police stations used technical analysis, the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) system, mobile tracking tools, and coordination with mobile users across different districts and states.
Through sustained follow-up and technical investigation, police successfully traced and recovered 122 lost mobile phones.
After completing verification of ownership and other legal formalities, the recovered devices were handed over to the complainants during a special distribution programme.
