Estranged Wife, Accomplice Arrested for Allegedly Conspiring to Kill Husband Near Bhandewadi Railway Station

Nagpur: The Crime Branch Unit-5 of Nagpur Police has arrested two accused, including the estranged wife of a 45-year-old man, for allegedly conspiring and executing his murder near Bhandewadi Railway Station on Wednesday evening.


According to police, the complainant, Sushila Pritamlal Borkar (62), a resident of Hanuman Nagar near Railway Station, Bhandewadi, informed police that her son, Ganesh alias Gurudev Pritamlal Borkar (45), had been married to Manisha Ganesh Borkar alias Manisha Shantaram Pardhi (37) for the past 14 years. Ganesh was Manisha’s second husband.


Police said the couple frequently quarrelled over domestic issues. Frustrated by the disputes, Manisha had left her husband’s house and was living separately with her children in Shamnagar, Pardi, Nagpur.


Investigators revealed that during one of their earlier disputes, Manisha had allegedly threatened her husband, saying, “If anyone murders you, it will be me. Just wait and see.”


On July 2, 2026, between 8.15 pm and 8.20 pm, Ganesh was returning home from a tea stall near Bhandewadi Railway Station when two unidentified men intercepted him near Chakole’s house in Hanuman Nagar. The assailants allegedly attacked him with sharp-edged weapons with the intention of killing him, resulting in his death on the spot.


Based on the complaint, Bhandewadi Police registered a case under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).


During the parallel investigation, officers of Crime Branch Unit-5 carried out technical surveillance and acted on confidential information. Taking into account the deceased’s wife’s earlier threat and other preliminary evidence, police detained:


  • Manisha Ganesh alias Gurudev Borkar (37), originally from Hanuman Nagar and presently residing on rent in Shamnagar, Bhandewadi, Nagpur.
  • Abhijeet Purushottam Sakhare (29), a resident of Kanhan, currently staying in Anandnagar slum near Bablu Barve’s house.


During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed that they had committed the crime in conspiracy with another accused, Rohit Borkar of Kandri-Kanhan, and a juvenile in conflict with law.


Police have formally arrested Manisha and Abhijeet and handed them over to Bhandewadi Police Station for further investigation. A search operation is underway to trace absconding accused Rohit Borkar, while further investigations are in progress.
