Nagpur: A young man allegedly assaulted his former girlfriend and her mother in Nagpur’s Yashodhara Nagar area after becoming enraged over the woman refusing to resume their relationship. The incident took place in the Binaki area of Yashodhara Nagar.

The accused has been identified as Suraj Yadav alias Suraj Singh.

According to police, the 26-year-old victim worked at a cloth store where she came into contact with Suraj. The acquaintance gradually developed into a romantic relationship, and the accused had allegedly promised to marry her.

However, the woman later learned that Suraj was also involved in a relationship with another woman. Following this revelation, she decided to end her relationship with him.

Police said the accused became upset over the breakup and repeatedly called the woman, allegedly harassing her mentally and pressuring her to resume the relationship. The victim, however, continued to refuse.

At around 9 pm on Wednesday, Suraj allegedly went to the woman’s residence in Binaki and questioned her about ending the relationship. When she refused to speak to him, he allegedly became aggressive and assaulted her with a metal bangle he was wearing.

Hearing the commotion and seeing her daughter being assaulted, the victim’s mother came out to intervene. The accused allegedly assaulted her as well before fleeing from the spot.

The woman subsequently approached Yashodhara Nagar Police Station and lodged a complaint. Police have registered a case and taken the accused into custody for further investigation.
