Nagpur: Beltarodi Police have apprehended a 30-year-old vehicle thief, leading to the detection of seven vehicle theft cases across multiple police jurisdictions. Stolen vehicles and other valuables worth approximately ₹2.65 lakh have been recovered from the accused.
According to police sources, on March 3, 2025, between 7:00 PM and 7:40 PM, complainant Prashant Mohadikar (51), a resident of New Sneh Nagar, parked his Activa scooter (MH 30 AH 4605) at Jay Auto Mobile parking in the Beltarodi area. When he returned, he found that the vehicle, valued at around ₹10,000, had been stolen. Following his complaint, a case was registered at Beltarodi Police Station under Section 303(2) of the BNS.
During the investigation, Beltarodi Police team used technical surveillance and intelligence inputs to track down the suspect, identified as Ashish Ramdas Madavi (30), a resident of Niranjan Nagar, Beltarodi. Upon interrogation, the accused admitted to stealing the scooter. Further questioning revealed his involvement in a total of seven vehicle thefts, including three in Beltarodi, two in Ajni, and one each in Dhantoli and another area.
Following his arrest, police recovered eight stolen two-wheelers, a mobile phone, and a set of duplicate keys, with a total estimated value of ₹2.65 lakh. The case is under further investigation.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of CP Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint CP Nisar Tamboli, Additional CP (South) Shivajirao Rathod, DCP Rashmita Rao, and ACP Ashok Shelke, with a team led by PI Rupali Bawankar, PSI Ram Kandure, and other police personnel.
