Nagpur: Elderly Man Killed in Road Mishap During Morning Walk; Motorcyclist Booked in MIDC

Nagpur: MIDC Police have registered a case against a motorcyclist involved in a fatal accident that claimed the life of a 77-year-old man during his morning walk. The incident occurred on Friday, March 7, before 5:50 AM near Metro Pillar No. 05, Lokmanya Nagar, within the MIDC police station limits. 


The victim, identified as Pandurang Gangaram Rode (77), a resident of Plot No. 09, Lokmanya Nagar, Hingna Road, Nagpur, was out for his routine morning walk when he was struck by a speeding motorcycle.


The accused, identified as Alok Ramprakash Pathare (35), was riding a motorcycle bearing registration number MH 40 AE 3195. Police stated that Pathare was allegedly riding the vehicle at high speed in a reckless and negligent manner, which resulted in him hitting Rode.


Both Rode and Pathare sustained serious injuries in the accident. Passersby immediately rushed them to Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Digdoh, where doctors declared Pandurang Rode dead during treatment. Meanwhile, the motorcyclist Alok Pathare is currently undergoing medical care.


Following a complaint filed by Mangesh Pandurang Rode (47), the victim’s son, MIDC police registered a case against Pathare under Section 281 and 106(1) of the BNS, along with Section 184of the Motor Vehicles Act.


Further investigation into the incident is underway.
