Nagpur: MIDC police have registered a case against a 60-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl at a coaching class in Nagpur’s Amar Nagar area.

According to the complaint, the girl, who is studying in Class 4, regularly attended a coaching class located behind a mosque in Amar Nagar, under the MIDC police station limits. The accused, identified as Bharat Singhmare (60), is reportedly the father of the teacher who conducts the class.

The incident allegedly took place on August 20 between 4 pm and 4.30 pm. According to the complaint, the girl had gone to the coaching class when the teacher was not present. While she was studying, the accused allegedly put his hand inside her T-shirt and touched her inappropriately.

The girl reportedly left the class crying before the scheduled time and informed her mother about the incident after returning home.

Based on the mother’s complaint, MIDC police registered an FIR against the accused under Section 75(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Police have initiated an investigation into the allegations.
