Nagpur: A 32-year-old employee of a Mumbai-based fintech company has been booked for allegedly diverting ₹10.68 lakh from the account of a distributor by misusing the distributor’s login credentials, police said.
The case was registered at Nandanvan Police Station on August 19 based on a complaint filed by Shankar Sudhakar Wadh (40), a private-sector employee residing in Nandanvan.
According to the complaint, the accused, Sudhir Hariram Kushwah (32), works for Rapipay Fintech Private Limited, a Mumbai-based company involved in money transfer and online business services. The complainant had obtained a distributor agency of the company through Kushwah.
The complainant and his wife reportedly faced difficulties while logging into the company’s website. As a result, they shared their login ID and password with Kushwah to resolve the issue.
Police said Kushwah allegedly took advantage of the access provided to him and, in an alleged conspiracy, misused his position. He reportedly made fraudulent entries and transferred ₹10,68,916from the complainant’s account into his own account.
The accused allegedly misappropriated the money and used it for personal purposes, according to the complaint.
Nandanvan police have registered a case under relevant sections including criminal breach of trust, cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy, along with provisions of the Information Technology Act, including Sections 66(B) and 66(C).
