Nagpur: A late-night accident near the Dhamna bridge on Amravati Road claimed the life of a 52-year-old woman and left her brother critically injured after their vehicle was struck by a speeding truck. The incident occurred around 12:50 am on November 20 in Hingna Police Station limits.

The deceased, Sushma Lalit Thakkar, was traveling with her family from Amravati to Nagpur in a Honda Amaze (MH-05-BS-5390). The family included her son Shlok Lalit Thakkar (19), husband Lalit, daughter Saniya, and brother Ajay Ambadas Dandale (50), a resident of Vidyut Nagar, Amravati.

According to the police, their car broke down near the Dhamna bridge. While Shlok and Lalit were pushing the vehicle, Sushma and Saniya stood behind it. Ajay remained in the driver’s seat, attempting to steer the car during a U-turn. At that moment, an Eicher truck (MH-12-VT-8222) approached at high speed. The driver, allegedly reckless and negligent, collided with the car.

The force of the impact caused Sushma to fall off the bridge, sustaining fatal head injuries. Ajay was also critically injured in the collision. Both were rushed to Sengupta Hospital, where doctors pronounced Sushma dead during treatment. Ajay remains hospitalized and is undergoing treatment.

Hingna Police have registered a case against the truck driver under Sections 106, 125(b), and 281 of the BNS, based on Shlok’s complaint. Further investigations are ongoing.
