Nagpur: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 38-year-old man after his car collided with a negligently parked Eicher truck on the Ajni Flyover in Dhantoli police jurisdiction here, on Tuesday, November 19.
The deceased, identified as Mohammad Farooq Mohammad Harool, a resident of Yerakheda Road, Islamapura, Bunkar Colony, New Kamptee, was driving his Hyundai Santro (registration no. MH 31 CM 3279) towards the airport when the accident occurred.
According to police sources, the truck, loaded with goods, had been left unattended on the flyover by its driver without proper traffic signs to warn approaching vehicles.
The truck driver, Vinod Sanjayrao Naik, 35, from Pulgaon in Wardha district, reportedly left the scene despite being aware of the potential for an accident. As a result, Mohammad Farooq’s car crashed into the stationary truck, leaving him critically injured.
Farooq was rushed to AIIMS Hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries during medical care.
Following a complaint filed by Mujammil Ashraf, a relative of the deceased, the Dhantoli police have registered a case against the truck driver under Sections 106(1) and 125 (A, B) of the Motor Vehicles Act. Investigations are ongoing to determine further details and liability in the case.
