Nagpur: Despite the recent apprehension of local influencer Sameer Khan, also known as “Sameerstylo,” for allegedly threatening a young man with a knife, his supporters have continued to create disruptions, leading to heightened calls for stricter preventive actions. On Wednesday, Sameer’s followers reportedly attempted to intimidate journalists reporting on the case at the Ambazari police station, even recording videos of the media personnel in an apparent act of intimidation.
Khan was taken into custody by Ambazari police following an incident where he allegedly attacked Abdul Ikram, a resident of Lashkaribagh, with a knife. According to police sources, Ikram was riding his motorcycle near Futala Lake with a friend on the night of November 10 when Sameer, accompanied by a woman and three men in a Mercedes, intercepted him. Reportedly, Sameer verbally abused Ikram, introducing himself as “Sameerstylo,” before drawing a knife and attempting an assault. Ikram managed to escape and subsequently filed a complaint with the Ambazari police, leading to Sameer’s detention on Tuesday night and the seizure of the Mercedes used in the crime.
On Wednesday afternoon, journalists arriving at the police station to cover Sameer’s arrest faced resistance from his supporters, who allegedly attempted to disrupt their reporting by recording them on video. The Ambazari police intervened, reprimanding Sameer’s brother and ordering the deletion of the recordings.
Known for his controversial social media presence, Sameer Khan has amassed a following but has also attracted multiple criminal allegations, including harassment of a minor and other criminal cases. His frequent brushes with the law and his supporters’ continued disruptive behavior have sparked public frustration, with many urging law enforcement to impose stricter preventive measures against him. The actions of his followers, both within and outside the police station, have added to the urgency for stronger steps by authorities to curb his influence and prevent further incidents.
