Nagpur: In a swift action by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Nagpur Railway Station, a suspected thief was apprehended and handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) for further legal proceedings. The incident occurred on the afternoon of 13th November 2024, when the RPF personnel, deployed as part of the Crime Prevention and Detection Squad (CPDS), noticed a suspicious individual roaming near the waiting hall of Platform 1.
The suspect, a 42-year-old resident of Kamthi, Nagpur, failed to provide satisfactory answers when questioned about his activities. Upon further questioning at the RPF Nagpur station, he revealed that he had stolen a mobile phone from a passenger who was sleeping near the waiting hall. The stolen item was a Vivo touchscreen mobile phone worth approximately ₹10,000.
The accused admitted to the crime voluntarily, and following the confession, the case was registered at GRP Nagpur under Crime No. 1012/2024 under Section 303(2) BNS. The accused was medically examined and subsequently handed over to the GRP Nagpur for further legal action.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Manoj Kumar, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, RPF Nagpur, and Shrikumar Kurup, Divisional Security Assistant Commissioner, RPF Nagpur.
