Nagpur: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the NDPS Cell of Nagpur Crime Branch conducted a raid in the Bhilgaon area under the jurisdiction of Kalamna Police Station and seized 8 kg of ganja worth ₹2.4 lakh.
According to police reports, the raid took place on Thursday, March 6, 2025, between 7 AM and 9 AM near Umar Bhai’s plastic factory in Bhilgaon, Nagpur. The police team, led by complainant Gajanan Gulhane, acted upon intelligence inputs and apprehended the accused, identified as Mohammed Mazhar alias Bilal Abdul Jabbar (29), a resident of Plot No. 7, Bhilgav, Nagpur.
Two other accused, Mohammed Zahid Ansari and Arslam Mansoor Khan, both residents of Yashodhara Nagar Chowk, are currently absconding.
During the operation, police confiscated 8 kg of ganja, one mobile phone, one moped collectively worth ₹2,40,000.
During interrogation, the arrested accused revealed that he had procured the ganja from the absconding suspects. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the remaining accused.
The case has been registered under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(2)(B), and 29 of the NDPS Act at Kalamna Police Station. Further investigation is ongoing to trace the drug supply network and nab the absconding accused.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to curbing drug-related activities in Nagpur and have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities related to narcotics.
