Nagpur: Sex Racket Busted at OYO Happy Spring on Katol Road; Four Victims Rescued, Two Accused Apprehended

Nagpur: In a major crackdown on human trafficking and illegal activities, the Social Security Branch (SSB) rescued four women from a sex racket operating out of an OYO hotel on Katol Road late Friday, April 4 night. The raid was conducted between 3:20 pm and 11:40 pm at Hotel Happy Spring, Room No. 202, situated on the second floor of Acharj Tower in the Chhaoni area.


During the operation, police apprehended two individuals Chetan Vijay Chakole(24), resident of Plot No. 223, Gangabag, Sharada Chowk, near Mukesh Kirana, under Pardi Police Station limits, Nagpur and Yugant Dinesh Durge(19), resident of Ward No. 1, Shivaji Chowk, near Buddha Vihar Library, Visapur, Chandrapur.


Additionally, two more suspects—Rahul alias Ankush Dilip Ghatole and a person identified only as Deepak—are on the run. The absconding duo allegedly lured women into prostitution under the pretext of financial incentives, provided them with lodging, and engaged them in sex trade for their personal gain.


Besides operating the sex racket, the hotel was also found supplying hookah to customers illegally.


Based on the findings, a case has been registered under Section 143(3)of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 4, 5, and 7of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, Sections 4(1), 5(1), and 21of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003 and Relevant provisions of the Maharashtra Prohibition of Obscene Advertisements and Indecent Representation of Women Act (Amendment of October 4, 2018)


The operation was executed under the guidance of Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Additional CP (Crime) Sanjay Patil, DCP (Crime) Rahul Makanikar, and ACP (Crime) Abhijeet Patil. The team was led by PI Kavita Isarkarand included police personnel Sachin Badiye, Prakash Mathankar, Laxman Chaure, Ajay Paunikar, Sheshrao Raut, Nitin Vasane, Aarti Chavan, Kunal Masram and driver Poonam Shende.


Further investigation is underway to apprehend the remaining accused and dismantle the entire trafficking network.
