Nagpur: Acting swiftly on a recent shop theft, the Crime Branch Unit 3 of Nagpur Police apprehended a 19-year-old accused and detained two juveniles involved in the burglary of a garment store located in Vaishno Devi Chowk, Wardhaman Nagar under the jurisdiction of Lakadganj Police Station.
The accused has been identified as Kunal Sukhdev Kukde, a resident of Prajapati Nagar, Wathoda. Two juveniles in conflict with the law were also found to be accomplices in the crime.
According to police, the incident took place between 11:00 pm on March 26 and 3:30 am on March 27, 2025. The complainant, Rudam Hussain Maqbool Ahmed Ansar (33), owner of “S.D. Fashion World,” reported that after locking his shop for the night, unidentified burglars broke open the shutter and stole items worth around ₹39,000, including ₹10,000 in cash, watches, clothes, and other goods.
Following the complaint, a case was registered under Sections 305(A) and 334(1) of the BNS against unknown persons at Lakadganj Police Station.
A technical investigation conducted by Crime Branch Unit 3 led to credible information, based on which the accused was detained. During questioning, Kunal Kukde confessed to the burglary and admitted to committing the crime in connivance with two juveniles.
Police recovered stolen property from the accused, including the clothes and watches, along with a Honda Activa (registration number MH-49-AV-9931) used in the theft. The total value of the seized goods is approximately ₹1.04 lakh.
The apprehended individuals, along with the recovered items, have been handed over to Lakadganj Police for further legal action. The investigation is currently ongoing.
The Crime Branch team led by PI Anil Taksande and PSI Madhukar Kathoke, with contributions from police staff Santosh Singh Thakur, Vijay Shrivas, Bhushan Bhagat, Kapilkumar Tandekar, Jitesh Reddy, Deepak Dasarwar, Deepak Lakhade, Vishal Rokade, and Pramod Deshbratar made the arrest.
