Nagpur: Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal carried out a surprise foot patrolling operation across various busy areas of the city between 8 pm and 10 pm on Monday, April 28, leaving a positive impression among citizens.


Dr. Singal, accompanied by police officers and personnel, conducted inspections in the jurisdictions of Sadar, Sitabuldi, Tehsil, and Pachpaoli police stations. Key locations covered included Meshram Chowk, Gaddigodam, LIC Chowk (under Sadar Police Station), Variety Chowk, Sitabuldi Main Road, Railway Station area, and Jyeshtha Chowk (under Sitabuldi Police Station).


In the Tehsil Police Station limits, areas like Geetanjali Talkies, Bhagwaghad Chowk, Agrasen Chowk, Mominpura, and Golibar Chowk were monitored with a full police contingent.


At Pachpaoli Police Station limits, Dr. Singal, along with Senior Police Inspector Baburao Raut, DB Squad officers, and probationary officers, conducted foot patrols at Khatek Chowk, Naik Talao, Bangladesh area, Mehndibag, and Avale Babu Chowk.


Focused Inspection at Gaddigodam Chowk:

Reaching Gaddigodam Chowk at 8 pm, Dr. Singal personally inspected the area, addressing frequent complaints. Actions were taken against unauthorized parking and individuals causing unnecessary gatherings. Further, he instructed action against hawkers occupying footpaths at Variety Chowk and Main Road under Sitabuldi Police Station, highlighting traffic obstruction concerns.


Murder Case Review and Citizen Interaction:

The Commissioner also visited the site of a recent murder at Nandgiri Road under Pachpaoli Police Station. He inspected the crime scene, interacted with local residents, and took note of their concerns. Foot patrolling continued through Prakash Pan Thela, Basod Chowk, Naik Talao, and Hanuman Mandir area, fostering direct communication with citizens.


Engagement with Youth and Special Directives for Libraries:

During the patrol, Dr. Singal interacted with girls practicing self-defense, including a student, Chaitali Pavnikar, who expressed her ambition to become an IAS officer and highlighted the need for a library in the locality. Acting swiftly, Dr. Singal instructed senior police officers and respectable citizens to work towards opening a library at the earliest, emphasizing immediate action and follow-up.


Clear Directives for Crime Control:

Dr. Singal issued clear instructions to ensure children and law-abiding citizens face no harassment. He directed the investigative teams, intelligence units, and police officers to remain alert and to implement preventive measures to curb criminal activities within their jurisdictions.
