Nagpur: A 27-year-old man, previously externed from Nagpur city and rural limits, was apprehended by Crime Branch Unit 1 police personnel near Shahu Kirana Stores in Bajaj Nagar on Sunday night.

The accused, identified as Sagar Gautam Zhariya, a resident of Danteshwari slum, was found moving around suspiciously in violation of police orders.

During patrolling, the police received a tip-off about the presence of the externed individual. Upon reaching the location, the accused attempted to flee but was quickly chased down and detained. Records revealed that he was externed for two years under DCP Zone 1’s order dated November 12, 2024.

Since he re-entered the city without permission, likely to commit a crime, a case was registered under Section 142 of the Maharashtra Police Act at Bajaj Nagar Police Station.

The action was carried out under the guidance of CP Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint CP Nisar Tamboli, Addl CP (Crime) Sanjay Patil, DCP (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijeet Patil. PSI Amol Deshmukh and police personnel Vinod Deshmukh, Yogesh Satpute, and Ravindra Raut executed the operation.
