Nagpur: In a major push to improve civic education standards, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has decided to focus strongly on increasing student enrolment in its schools, while 21 municipal schools have been converted into English medium institutions.
The announcement was made during a review meeting of headmasters of Nagpur Municipal Corporation schools held on April 30 at 3 pm at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee E-Library, under the chairmanship of Education Committee Chairperson Santosh Laddha.
Focus on Admissions and Academic Quality
During the meeting, special emphasis was laid on improving the academic quality of schools and strengthening the teaching-learning process. All teachers were instructed to make dedicated and continuous efforts to increase admissions in their respective schools.
Officials stressed that raising enrolment numbers and improving educational outcomes would remain top priorities for the upcoming academic session.
21 NMC Schools Shifted to English Medium
Santosh Laddha informed that 21 Nagpur Municipal Corporation schools have now been converted into English medium schools, a move expected to attract more students and parents seeking quality English education at affordable cost.
She also directed authorities to install large and attractive signboards at all these schools so that their upgraded identity and improved facilities are clearly visible to the public.
Uniforms, Books and School Readiness
All headmasters were instructed to immediately submit requirements for school uniforms. Schools that have not yet submitted proposals were asked to do so within the stipulated deadline.
Officials further informed that the book order has already been prepared on the Samagra portal. Once the required budget is received, procurement and supply of textbooks will begin.
Attractive School Environment Planned
To make municipal schools more appealing and inspiring for students, emphasis was also placed on craft work, campus beautification and school decoration.
Teachers who were not showing expected progress were counselled and guided to resolve difficulties and improve performance.

The meeting was attended by Education Officer Madhuri Katkar, Deputy Education Officer Seema Khobragade, along with concerned officials and school inspectors.

Chairperson Santosh Laddha appealed to all stakeholders to work with dedication and commitment to improve the quality of Nagpur Municipal Corporation schools and raise education standards across the city.
