Nagpur: The MIDC Hingna police have registered a case against a 26-year-old mobile repair technician for allegedly accessing a woman’s private photographs and videos stored on her mobile phone and showing them to other people without her consent. The case was registered on August 10, 2026, in connection with an incident reported to have occurred between June and August this year.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Sunny Singh (26), a resident of Ramnagar under Ambazari police station limits in Nagpur.

The 32-year-old woman, who works in catering and had earlier worked in modelling before her marriage, approached the police after learning that her private photographs and videos were allegedly accessed and circulated.

According to the complaint, the woman had an Oppo mobile phone containing her photographs and videos. As the phone’s touchscreen was not functioning properly, she handed it over to The Hub Mobile Shopee on Hingna Road for repairs.

Singh, who was handling the repair work at the shop, allegedly asked her for the screen-lock pattern. He reportedly gave her an old mobile phone for temporary use while keeping her device for repair. The woman later lost the temporary phone.

A few days later, she allegedly learnt from a person working at the shop, and others that Singh had viewed her and her husband’s private and obscene photographs and videos stored on her phone and had allegedly shown them to other workers.

When the woman confronted Singh and questioned him about showing her private content to others, he allegedly abused her using obscene language and threatened her.

Based on her complaint, the MIDC Hingna police registered an FIR against Singh under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act. Police are investigating the allegations and examining the circumstances under which the private content was accessed.
