Nagpur: The Crime Branch’s Unit 2 conducted a raid at Know Where Cafe in the Buti Compound area on Mount Road under Sadar police station limits and took action against the alleged operation of a hookah parlour.
The action was carried out after police allegedly found prohibited tobacco products being supplied to customers at the cafe.
According to the police, the raid was conducted on the complaint of Police Sub-Inspector Manoj Raut of Crime Branch Unit 2. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA).
The accused have been identified as Gaurav Shriram Bokde (33), Vaibhav Shrikrishna Devhate (34), Mohammed Ittefaq Wal Mohammed Shakeel (28), and Paresh Madan Sorte (20).
During the raid, police seized 11 hookah pots, two sieves, 17 hookah pipes, 11 chillams, two tongs and silver foil, collectively valued at around ₹45,500.
Police said one of the accused was allegedly found at the cafe while supplying prohibited tobacco-based substances to customers. Following the discovery, the Crime Branch team initiated legal action.
The operation was conducted by Unit 2 of the Nagpur City Crime Branch in coordination with the Sadar police jurisdiction. Further investigation is underway.
