Nagpur: A 38-year-old man was killed in a tragic road accident after being crushed under a coal-laden tipper trailer that overturned on the Nagpur–Jabalpur Road near Velaahari village under Belatrodi police limits on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased, identified as Rakesh Govindrao Halbe, a resident of Titur village in Kuhi taluka, was on his way to work at Sunvij Company in Butibori on his Honda motorcycle (MH-40/CJ-3335) when the accident occurred between 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm.
Police said the driver of the tipper trailer (MH-40/CD-8615) was driving at a high speed and in a rash and negligent manner when the vehicle lost control and overturned. Rakesh, who was riding nearby, got trapped under the vehicle and sustained severe injuries. He was immediately rushed to AIIMS Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Following a complaint lodged by the victim’s uncle Baba Maroti Halbe (52), a resident of Mahavishnu Nagar, Hudkeshwar, the Belatrodi Police have booked the tipper driver under Sections 281, 106(1), and 324(4) of the BNS.
