Nagpur: A case of theft has been registered after gold ornaments worth around ₹2.8 lakh were stolen from a woman’s residence in Bajaj Nagar while she was visiting her maternal home during the Diwali festival.
According to the complaint lodged by Sheetal Abhaysingh Sonaye (41), a resident of Urja Nagar, CTPS Colony, Chandrapur, she had come to stay at her maternal home — Plot No. 6, Gittikhadan Layout, Dhorada, Bulbul Apartment, Nagpur — for Diwali. She had kept her gold jewellery worth ₹2.8 lakh inside a small box, which was locked in a suitcase placed in the bedroom.
Between 10.30 am and 6.30 pm on October 26, 2025, an unidentified burglar took advantage of the open main door, sneaked into the house unnoticed, and fled with the box containing the jewellery.
