Nagpur: The Dhantoli Police arrested one of two goons who allegedly threatened a local youth and demanded monthly extortion money from him under threat of violence.

The incident occurred around 10 pm on October 19, 2025, near Jamsher’s Pan Stall at Priyanka Wadi, Dhantoli, when the complainant Vijay Anil Pullewar (25), a resident of Old Ajni’s Dhot Layout, was riding a motorcycle with a friend. The accused, identified as Prafull Fulchand Patil (30) of Priyanka Wadi and Sandeep Verma of Beltarodi, intercepted them, brandished a knife, and checked their pockets while hurling abuses.

The duo threatened the complainant, saying, “If you want to live in this area, you’ll have to pay ₹5,000 every month.” They also warned of dire consequences if the demand was not met.

Following the complaint, Dhantoli Police registered a case under Sections 308(5), 351(3), and 3(5) of the BNS. Acting swiftly, PSI Bhagat and his team arrested Prafull Patil, while efforts are underway to trace absconding accused Sandeep Verma.

Police sources said the accused were notorious offenders previously externed from the area but had resumed criminal activities soon after their return.
