Nagpur: Bajaj Nagar Police have registered a criminal case against four persons for allegedly trespassing into the Deekshabhoomi Memorial Committee office, breaking the locks of the committee office and the principal's chamber, and replacing them with their own locks, disrupting the functioning of the institution.

The complaint was filed by Bhadant Arya Nagarjun Surai Sasai (80), president of the Deekshabhoomi Memorial Committee and a resident of Indora Buddha Vihar on Kamptee Road.

The accused have been identified as Vilas Gajghate (65) of Ambedkar Nagar, Dharampeth; Pradeep Aglawe (65) of Nagpur; Milind Thul (65) of Lashkaribagh, Pachpaoli; and Sharad Meshram (54) of Nazul Layout, Jaripatka.

According to police, the incident occurred on July 24 at the Deekshabhoomi Memorial Committee office in Nagpur. The four accused allegedly convened an unauthorised meeting at the premises, which was attended by several committee members. After the meeting concluded and the remaining members left, the accused allegedly broke open the locks of the committee office and the principal's room before installing new locks without authorisation.

The complainant alleged that the action effectively took control of the offices and halted administrative work at the college functioning on the campus, causing inconvenience to students and disrupting routine academic operations.

Following the complaint, Bajaj Nagar Police registered an FIR against the four accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for house trespass, house-breaking, mischief and common intention. The police have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the alleged takeover of the committee office.

The incident has drawn attention as it involves the Deekshabhoomi Memorial Committee, which manages one of Nagpur's most prominent Buddhist heritage sites and educational institutions.
