Guwahati, Assam: The flood situation in Assam has shown signs of improvement, but nearly 1.92 lakh people across the state continue to be affected as floodwaters persist in several districts.

According to officials, two more fatalities were reported on Saturday, taking the overall death toll from this year's floods to 82.

The worst affected districts include Sivasagar, Golaghat, Jorhat, Nagaon, and Charaideo, where flooding continues to disrupt normal life. Thousands of residents remain impacted, with many facing damage to homes, roads, and agricultural land.

The number of affected people has declined since Thursday, July 30, when more than 2 lakh people across eight districts were impacted by the floods. While the situation has improved in some areas, authorities continue relief and rehabilitation efforts in the remaining flood hit regions.

State agencies are closely monitoring water levels and providing assistance to affected communities. Rescue and relief operations remain underway as officials work to restore normalcy in the flood affected districts.

Authorities have advised residents living in vulnerable areas to remain alert and follow official advisories as weather conditions continue to be monitored.
