Crime Branch Nabs Man Selling Stolen Bikes from Nagpur, Chhattisgarh near Kamptee Railway Station

Nagpur: In a major breakthrough, the Unit 1 of Crime Branch arrested a 34-year-old man who was attempting to sell stolen motorcycles near Kamptee Railway Station. The action led to the detection of two vehicle theft cases, one each from Nagpur and Chhattisgarh.


According to police sources, the incident dates back to May 19, 2023, when complainant Bhojraj Keshavrao Lute (44), a resident of Plot No. 521, Hiravi Layout near NIT Ground, Nagpur, had parked his Hero Honda Deluxe motorcycle (MH-31-DB-4258), worth approximately ₹30,000, outside the Ayodhya Nagar Post Office. While he was inside, an unidentified thief stole the parked two-wheeler. Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered at Sakkardara Police Station against an unknown accused.


During routine patrolling, the Crime Branch Unit 1 received credible intelligence that a man was attempting to sell stolen bikes near Kamptee Railway Station. Acting swiftly, the team laid a trap and detained the accused, identified as Salman Khan Munir Khan (34), a resident of Chittaranjan Nagar, Kamptee. Two motorcycles were recovered from his possession.


Upon interrogation, the accused confessed to the theft of the Hero Honda Deluxe mentioned in the Sakkardara case. He also admitted to stealing a Honda Shine (CG-08-AH-4252) from Vasantpur Police Station limits in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. Both stolen vehicles, valued at around ₹60,000, were seized.


The accused has been handed over to Sakkardara Police for further investigation.


This operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner of Police Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Abhijit Patil. The arrest team included PI Sachin Bhonde, constables Ravi Ahir, Nitin Wasnik, Yogesh Wasnik, Swapnil Khodke, and Mangesh Borkar.
