Nagpur: Bajaj Nagar Police have successfully solved a theft case reported from a construction site at Poonam Mall opposite Alankar Talkies and recovered stolen copper wire worth approximately ₹50,400.
According to police, the complainant, a supervisor with N. Kumar Projects and Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., oversees a construction site where building materials are stored in a ground-floor warehouse. On April 20, 2026, he locked the warehouse at around 9.30 pm and left for home. When he returned to work the next morning at about 9.30 am, he discovered that the warehouse lock had been broken.
Upon inspecting the premises and verifying the stock, he found that copper wire bundles and other materials were missing. Based on his complaint, Bajaj Nagar Police registered Crime No. 194/2026 under Sections 305(A), 331(3), and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
During the investigation, police arrested accused Amit Shyamsundar Naidu (42), a resident of Railway Quarter K-560, Guard Line, near Sheetla Mata Mandir, Nagpur. The police recovered the stolen copper wire after discovering that the accused had allegedly burned the copper wire bundles and stored the extracted burnt copper wire in a sack. The recovered material weighed approximately 42 kilograms and was valued at around ₹50,400.
The recovery of the stolen property has led to the successful detection of the theft case and retrieval of the stolen material.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Reddy (Zone 1), Assistant Commissioner of Police Gurav of Sonegaon Division, and Senior Police Inspector C.B. Chauhan of Bajaj Nagar Police Station. The investigation team included PSI Shivaji Borkar, PSI Deepak Pawar, Head Constables Satish Thakur, Jahid Ansari, Anand Mannewar, and Police Constable Dnyaneshwar Karvedkar, who played a key role in solving the case.
