Nagpur: A burglary was reported under Hudkeshwar police station limits after unidentified thieves broke into a locked house and stole cash, gold and silver ornaments, and wristwatches collectively worth over Rs 2.37 lakh.

The complainant, Siddharth Fagoji Khabragade (61), a resident of Jambudweep Nagar near Hatwar Atta Chakki in Ayodhya Nagar, had locked his residence and travelled with his family to Pulgaon in Wardha district to attend a relative’s wedding.

Taking advantage of the house being vacant between June 3 and June 4, unknown burglars allegedly broke open the main door lock and entered the premises. The thieves then accessed a steel cupboard in the bedroom and escaped with Rs 25,000 in cash, gold and silver jewellery, and two wristwatches.

The total value of the stolen property has been estimated at Rs 2,37,250.

Based on the complaint lodged by Khabragade, Hudkeshwar Police have registered a case against unidentified accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A search has been launched to trace the culprits, and further investigation is underway.
