Chhattisgarh Man Booked for Abusing, Assaulting Police Personnel, Obstructing Duty Inside Police Station in Nagpur

Nagpur: Sitabuldi police have registered a case against a 36-year-old man for allegedly abusing police personnel, grabbing a police constable by his uniform collar and attempting to choke him while he was on duty in Nagpur.


The accused has been identified as Nishishkumar Tiwari, 36, a resident of Ambikapur in Surguja district, Chhattisgarh.


According to the complaint lodged by Police Head Constable Sayeed Ahmed Mughal, the incident took place around 8 pm on October 1. The complainant was on duty as a driver with police staff when the accused allegedly arrived at Sitabuldi Police Station without any apparent reason.


Police said Tiwari allegedly hurled obscene abuses at the complainant and other police personnel. He then allegedly grabbed the complainant by the collar of his uniform, pressed his neck and moved towards him in an attempt to assault him.


The alleged act resulted in obstruction of the police personnel while they were performing their official duties, according to the complaint.


Based on the complaint, Sitabuldi police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
