Nagpur: Thieves broke into a locked house in Nandanvan area and decamped with cash and gold jewellery worth over ₹8.65 lakh, police said on Friday.
Between July 2 and July 11, the complainant’s father-in-law, Baburao Narayan Khobragade (62), had left for Mumbai with his wife, leaving their residence at Plot No. 47, Vidyanagar, Wathoda Layout, Nandanvan locked.
Taking advantage of their absence, unidentified burglars broke open the main door lock and entered the bedroom, stealing ₹1.5 lakh cash and gold ornaments.
A complaint was filed by Akshay Kishor Ambade (34), resident of Plot No. 154, Gopalkrishna Nagar, Nagpur, at Nandanvan Police Station. A case has been registered against unidentified accused under relevant sections of the BNS, and further investigation is underway.
