Nagpur: The Nagpur City Police Force marked a significant milestone on April 16 with the promotion of 89 police personnel, including 25 women cop, who will now shoulder crucial responsibilities in maintaining law and order, conducting investigations, and strengthening the administrative framework of the force.

In a special ceremony held at the Police Bhavan Conference Hall, Civil Lines, Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal conferred the new ranks on the promoted officers in the presence of their families. Nine Police Head Constables were promoted to Assistant Police Sub-Inspectors (ASI), while 80 Police Naiks were elevated to the rank of Head Constables.

The promotions, officially announced on April 8, are not just a recognition of the officers’ long-standing service but also a testament to their integrity and commitment to public duty. The inclusion of 25 women among the promoted personnel highlighted the growing and commendable participation of women in the police force.

While addressing the newly promoted officers, Commissioner Dr. Singal emphasized the importance of timely resolution of pending cases, swift response to public complaints, and creating a strong deterrent against crime. He reminded officers that the real challenge begins now, with greater responsibility resting on their shoulders.

“Every complaint at the police station must be handled with urgency and sensitivity. Officers must ensure thorough investigations, collect and present solid evidence in court, and make effective use of modern technology,” Dr. Singal stated. He also highlighted the importance of surveillance, intelligence gathering, gang control measures, and adapting to tech-driven policing.

In a time where crime patterns are becoming increasingly sophisticated, the role of the police extends beyond enforcement. The ability to manage station duties, maintain order, investigate cases, and serve citizens with limited resources lies at the heart of police operations—tasks that now fall upon the promoted personnel.

The Commissioner further noted that this promotion ceremony was not merely a formal event but a symbolic step towards a safer Nagpur. He expressed confidence that the promoted officers would now work with renewed energy, accountability, and public-centric sensitivity.

The presence of families during the ceremony added a personal and emotional touch, with many expressing joy and pride in the accomplishments of their loved ones. They described the event as a double celebration — a moment of personal achievement and an opportunity to meet the city’s top police official.
