Nagpur: In a significant drug bust, Nandanvan Police apprehended a 25-year-old youth in possession of MD (Mephedrone) powder near Danish Lawn, Hasanbagh. The operation was carried out between 5:10 am and 6:30 am on Saturday, April 19 during routine patrolling.
The accused, identified as Sohail Sheikh Shakil Ahmad, a resident of Chandni Chowk, Hasanbagh, was found carrying 5.11 grams of MD powder. The police also seized a mobile phone, bringing the total value of the confiscated items to approximately ₹35,550.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused intended to sell the banned substance for financial gain. A case has been registered under Sections 8(c) and 22(b) of the NDPS Act at Nandanvan Police Station, and the accused has been taken into custody.
The action was executed under the guidance of CP Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint CP Nisar Tamboli, Additional CP Shivajirao Rathod, DCP Rashmita Rao, and ACP Narendra Hivare, with the team led by PI Vinayak Koli and comprising PSI Pravin Raut, head constables Dinesh Jugnake and Vilas Chaudhary, constables Pravin Marape, Ramdas Haran, and WPC Arti Shukla.
