Nagpur: In a major enforcement drive, the Nagpur Traffic Police took strict action against 672 traffic violators in a single day on Wednesday, March 12, marking the highest crackdown in the past three years. The special operation focused on two major violations—wrong-side driving and signal jumping—across various traffic zones in the city.

According to official data, a total of 384 motorists were penalized for driving on the wrong side, with the highest violations recorded in Cotton Market (57), Sonegaon (47), and MIDC (46). Similarly, 288 motorists were fined for jumping traffic signals, with Sitabuldi (79), Indora (72), and Sonegaon (34) witnessing the most cases.

The traffic police have warned that such enforcement drives will continue to ensure road safety and reduce violations. Citizens are urged to adhere to traffic rules to avoid penalties and ensure smoother traffic flow in the city.

To further strengthen enforcement, authorities have encouraged public participation in reporting violations. The “Traffic Mitra” WhatsApp helpline (8976897698) allows citizens to lodge complaints by sharing photos, along with details of the time and location. This initiative aims to ensure swift action against offenders and improve road discipline.

Nagpur Traffic Police have appealed to all motorists to follow traffic regulations and cooperate in maintaining a safe and organized traffic system.
