Nagpur: Old Kamptee Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers and seized MD powder, mobile phones, and a two-wheeler collectively worth ₹1.36 lakh.
The action was carried out in the early hours of June 24 as part of the Anti-Narcotics Week campaign launched by Nagpur Police Commissionerate to curb drug trafficking and substance abuse in the city.
Police Intercept Suspects in Kamptee's Naya Bazar Area
According to police, officers from the Old Kamptee Police Station's investigation team were conducting patrols and anti-drug operations when they received specific intelligence about suspected drug activity near Jamal Daily Needs Shop in the Naya Bazar area, close to Badi Masjid.
Acting on the tip-off, police intercepted two men travelling on a white Suzuki Burgman scooter and conducted a search after following due procedures under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The accused were identified as:
- Salman alias Maya Manzoor Ahmed (30), resident of Naya Bazar, Kamptee
- Mohammad Bilal Nagani Hanif Nagani (38), resident of Bunkar Colony, Kamptee
MD Powder Recovered During Search
During the search, police recovered 12.65 grams of MD powder concealed in a zip-lock pouch. Officers also seized two mobile phones and the scooter bearing registration number MH-40-DA-7456.
The total value of the seized property is estimated at ₹1.36 lakh.
Police alleged that the accused were in possession of the narcotic substance for the purpose of illegal sale and financial gain.
Case Registered Under NDPS Act
A case has been registered at Old Kamptee Police Station under Sections 8(c), 22(b), and 29 of the NDPS Act. Both accused have been arrested, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the drugs and whether a larger trafficking network is involved.
