Video: 19-year-old Apprehended for Possession of Sword in Sakardara, Nagpur; Had Shared Video on Social Media

Nagpur: A youth was apprehended by the Social Security Branch (SSB) of the Crime Branch, Nagpur Police, for possession of an iron sword. The incident took place in the Sakardara area on October 27 between midnight and 1:00 a.m., during a routine police patrol near Thakur Plot, close to the Provident Fund Enclave Regional Office.


The accused, identified as Syed Altamash (19), a resident of Motha Tajbagh, Avliya Nagar, near Sadik Bhai’s residence in the Sakardara Police jurisdiction, had earlier shared a video on social media brandishing the sword.


Police have arrested the accused and seized the iron sword with a steel handle, measuring 31 inches in total length, with a 27-inch blade and a handle length of 5.5 inches, valued at Rs 1,500.


According to the police, the patrol team noticed Syed Altamash acting suspiciously on foot in the area. Upon interrogation and search, officers discovered a long iron sword concealed behind his T-shirt. The weapon was confiscated, and the accused was taken into custody at Sakardara Police Station.


The suspect now faces charges under Section 4/25 of the Indian Arms Act, along with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, for carrying an unauthorized weapon in a public area. The case is under further investigation.


The SSB team, led by PI Kavita Isarkar and including NPC Sheshrao Raut and PCs Kunal Masram, Ashwin Mange, Sameer Sheikh, and Nitin Wasane, made the arrest.
