Nagpur Police Crack Down on Illegal Liquor Trade, Seize Goods Worth Rs 1.04 Lakh

Nagpur: In a series of raids targeting the illegal liquor trade, Nagpur Police confiscated goods valued at approximately Rs 1.04 lakh across the city between October 25 and 26. The coordinated operations were carried out by Unit 5 of the Crime Branch and local police teams.


The Crime Branch’s Unit 5 led the largest seizure, confiscating 560 bottles of country-made liquor along with 40 liters of Mahua liquor, totaling nearly Rs 1 lakh in value. Additionally, Kapilnagar police apprehended a suspect, Savita Shivprasad Shivbansi (51) of Pili Nadi, seizing 20 bottles of local liquor valued at Rs 800.


In a separate operation, Imamwada police arrested Lalit Ramaji Upreshkar (54) from Mithuram Rohanbagh, recovering nine bottles of country-made liquor worth Rs 620. New Kamptee police, in their raid at the residence of Vinay Digambar Meshram (40) in Bhimnagar, Kamptee, seized 29 bottles of country-made liquor worth Rs 2,030.


Each accused has been booked under Section 65 (E) of the Mumbai Prohibition Act, as Nagpur Police intensifies its crackdown on illegal liquor activities.
