Nagpur: The body of an unidentified woman was recovered from the Kanhan river in the Khaparkheda police station limits on Monday, triggering an investigation.

According to police, on December 15, 2025, at around 11 am, the body of a woman aged approximately 45 to 55 years was found floating in the riverbed near Bhanegaon Shivar.

The deceased was described as fair-complexioned, strongly built, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, with long black-and-grey hair. She was wearing a purple saree and blouse, had red bangles on both hands, and tattoos on both arms.

The body was retrieved from the water and sent to Mayo Hospital for post-mortem examination and further procedures.

Based on information provided by Arvind Shivaji Tandekar (32), a resident of Bhanegaon, Khaparkheda Police have registered an accidental death case. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the identity and circumstances surrounding the death.
