Nagpur: Lakadganj Police have apprehended two individuals involved in running an illegal online lottery business under the guise of a shop in the Masurkar Chowk area of Nagpur.
The accused have been identified as Rahul Marotrao Ninave (28), a resident of Ganga Jamuna Cement Road near Jagannath Swami Gate, and Shahid Parvez Sheikh Sabir (29), a resident of Mominpura behind Kamal Baba Dargah.
According to the police, the duo was operating ‘Rajshree Online Lottery’, which is banned by the government. They were allegedly accepting money from customers and conducting gambling activities related to win-loss games for their personal profit.
During the raid, police seized gambling materials including two monitors, a CPU, printer, adapter, mouse, Wi-Fi device, mobile phone, and other accessories along with ₹1,480 in cash, totaling an estimated value of ₹40,180.
Based on a complaint filed by PSI Bhandare, API Kichak registered an offence under Sections 318(2), 297(1), 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 4(A), 7(3), and 8 of the Lottery Regulation Act and Sections 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Gambling Prevention Act.
Both accused have been taken into custody. Further investigation is underway.
