Sakkardara Police Arrest 26-Year-Old with 444 Grams of Ganja in Nagpur

Nagpur: Sakkardara Police arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly possessing ganja intended for sale during a routine patrol in Nagpur.


The accused has been identified as Vijay Devanand Tajne (26), a resident of Rani Bhosale Nagar, Bhande Plot.


According to police, the patrol team spotted the suspect carrying a bag in a suspicious manner on the footpath near the wall of Sakkardara Lake Garden on the Sonzhari Nagar–Surve Layout Roadbetween 7 pm and 8.25 pm on July 5.


During a search conducted in the presence of independent witnesses, police recovered 73 plastic pouches containing 444 grams of ganja, valued at ₹8,880, from a light green bag in his possession.


Police alleged that the accused was carrying the contraband for sale to earn illegal profits. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, including Sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(A), and 29. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.


The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior officers of the Nagpur City Police Commissionerate.
