Nagpur: Mankapur Police have registered a theft case after gold jewellery and cash worth ₹3.13 lakhwere stolen from a residence in the city’s Mankapur area.
The complaint was lodged by George Xavier Pillai (61), a resident of Kirade Layout, behind the Post Office.
According to police, the theft came to light on July 4 when the complainant asked his wife for money to pay the electricity bill. While checking the cupboard, she discovered that several gold ornaments along with ₹50,000 in pension cash were missing.
Police suspect that an unidentified thief entered the house through an unlocked door sometime between 3 pm on July 1 and 11 am on July 4 and escaped with valuables worth ₹3,13,500.
A case has been registered against an unknown accused under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police are examining leads and searching for the culprit.
