Nagpur: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) apprehended a mobile theft accused at Nagpur Railway Station and recovered a stolen mobile phone worth approximately ₹10,000 during a crime prevention patrol at Platform No. 08.
According to RPF officials, the CPDS Team and Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB) personnel noticed a suspicious man roaming near the PRS area on Platform No. 08 during routine patrolling. Upon questioning, the man identified himself as Rakesh Gopichand Meshram, 57. During the search, officials recovered a Realme mobile phone from his possession.
As the accused failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding ownership of the mobile phone, RPF personnel detained him and brought him to the RPF Post, Nagpur, for detailed interrogation.
Sub Inspector M. K. Pandey conducted further inquiry, during which the accused allegedly confessed that he had stolen the mobile phone from a passenger who was asleep in the PRS area of Platform No. 08 at Nagpur Railway Station.
Following the confession, RPF officials contacted Government Railway Police (GRP) Nagpur and verified that a theft case related to the same mobile phone had already been registered with GRP Nagpur.
Subsequently, the accused along with the recovered mobile phone was handed over to GRP Nagpur for further investigation and legal action.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Manoj Kumar by Sub Inspector M. K. Pandey and the CPDS Team of RPF Nagpur.
