The incident took place around 2:15 am. Acting on the instructions of DCP Zone 4 Rashmita Rao to extend night patrolling till 5 am, Wathoda beat marshals — Head Constable Chandrakant Nimbate and Constable Kiran Gavai — were on patrol when they were informed by a fellow security guard that three men on a black Splendor bike had just robbed a food delivery agent.
Based on this input, the beat marshals rushed towards Prajapati Square.

One of the suspects was identified as Kunal Wankhede (20), a known criminal. His associate was later identified as Ghanshyam Wanjari (25), both from Surajnagar, Bhandewadi.
Despite efforts to chase them, the trio managed to escape in the dark.

While checking the area, the police found the body of Laxman Ramdas Mule (48), a security guard from Pardi, lying in a pool of blood inside the hut. Wathoda police’s Detection Branch (DB) was immediately alerted and a high-level investigation was launched.
Senior officials including DCP Rashmita Rao, ACP Narendra Hiware, and ACP (Crime) Abhijit Patil visited the crime scene.
Accused Traced Within Hours, Sent to Police Custody:

Wathoda Police Inspector Harish Borade confirmed the breakthrough and praised the swift coordination between beat marshals and the investigation team.
