Nagpur: In a tragic incident, a police personnel stationed at the headquarters allegedly died by suicide after consuming poison here, on Wednesday, January 29. 

The deceased has been identified as Ramchandra Nanaji Rohankar.

Sources revealed that Rohankar had been distressed after receiving a dismissal notice just ten days ago. While the exact circumstances leading to the extreme step remain unclear, preliminary inquiries indicate mental stress as a possible factor.

The police have registered a case of accidental death and launched an investigation to ascertain further details. Authorities are also speaking to colleagues and family members to gather insights.

This is second such incident in recent times, earlier this month, a police constable posted at the bungalow of Nagpur Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Harssh Poddar in Jamtha attempted suicide by shooting himself with his service SLR.
