Nagpur: The Nagpur City Police Commissionerate on Thursday concluded its much-appreciated “Summer Camp-2026” organised for children at Chimani Ghar, Police Headquarters, Police Line Takli, Nagpur. The camp, held from May 4 to May 22, was conducted under the concept and guidance of Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal with the aim of promoting discipline, confidence, teamwork and social awareness among children.

The summer camp was organised for children of police officers and personnel as well as children from the general public. The concluding ceremony was held on May 22 at 4 pm under the chairmanship of Police Commissioner Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal. The programme began with the ceremonial welcome of the Police Commissioner with a sapling.

During the event, Police Constable Atul Agarkar, while presenting the introductory speech, informed that the participants were divided into two age groups — 4 to 7 years and 8 to 14 years. The camp included several indoor and outdoor activities such as insect competitions, dance, art, handicrafts, adventure games, mock drills, first-aid training, visits to police stations and Trophy Park, along with interactive sessions with senior police officers and staff.

The theme of the camp was “A Summer to Learn”. Officials said the primary objective was to ensure the holistic development of children by instilling discipline, self-confidence, teamwork, social responsibility and awareness regarding safety. The camp witnessed an overwhelming response from students and parents with enthusiastic participation throughout the programme.

In the presence of the Police Commissioner, Senior Police Inspector Vijay Gite also administered a collective oath to children regarding good habits and positive behaviour.

A major highlight of the programme was an interactive session where child reporter Manan from “Kids Age News Channel” asked questions to the Police Commissioner, while another participant, Anandi, conducted a rapid-fire quiz round. Dr Singal’s engaging responses won appreciation from the audience.

Addressing the gathering, the Police Commissioner advised children to stay physically active by participating in outdoor games and to remain dedicated towards studies. He also urged children to stay away from excessive use of social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and Snapchat and instead focus on reading books, pursuing hobbies and sports activities. He further guided children to stay away from narcotic substances during adolescence.

Certificates and mementos were distributed to children who participated in the camp and those who displayed exceptional performance during various activities. Special appreciation was extended to Mrs Princy Soni and Mr Anurag Soni for their valuable contribution towards organising the camp. Reserve Police Inspector Vinod Tiwari and his team were also honoured for their dedicated efforts in managing activities at Chimani Ghar.

Parents of participating children praised the initiative, stating that the camp helped children stay away from mobile phones, learn new skills and engage in constructive activities during the summer vacation. They thanked the Nagpur Police Commissionerate and expressed hope that such initiatives would continue in future.

The concluding ceremony was attended by senior police officials including the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic Branch), Reserve Police Inspector (Headquarters), police personnel and their family members in large numbers. The programme was anchored by Police Constable Atul Agarkar, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Senior Police Inspector Vijay Gite.
