Nagpur: In a shocking crime from Nagpur’s Lashkaribagh area, a 30-year-old man murdered his grandmother by slitting her throat after she repeatedly scolded him for theft and substance abuse. The Pachpaoli Police have arrested the accused, identified as Raj Pramod Bagde, within 48 hours of the crime.

The victim, Indu Kishor Chavan (68), lived alone on the first floor of her house. Police said the accused, addicted to alcohol and drugs, had recently stolen her ATM card and withdrawn ₹20,000. Angered by constant reprimands, he allegedly planned the murder.

On the night of May 20, Raj entered the house while Indu was asleep and killed her using a knife. He then locked the room from outside and fled, leaving the key hanging nearby.

The crime went unnoticed until May 22 morning when the victim’s husband noticed a foul smell and discovered the body. A sniffer dog helped police trace movements, leading to suspicion on Raj, who was later nabbed from Kalmeshwar. He has confessed to the crime.

Police also revealed that the accused had ordered the knife online, highlighting a worrying trend in premeditated crimes.
