Nagpur: A couple has been booked by Sakkardara Police for allegedly cheating a 24-year-old e-commerce parcel delivery executive of ₹40.01 lakh by promising to sell him a plot in a housing development project. The accused were later identified as Kamlesh Ganpatrao Hanote and Pooja Kamlesh Hanote.

According to the FIR, the accused couple, residents of Plot No. 112, near the EPF Office, Somwari Quarters, Nagpur, allegedly claimed ownership of Plot No. 23 in My Dream Land Development at Mouza Wela, Harishchandra, under Khasra No. 191 in Nagpur Rural.

Police said the accused convinced the complainant Mohit Milind Pardhi that the plot belonged to them and agreed to sell it for ₹48.21 lakh. Trusting their claims, the complainant paid ₹40,01,002 through cheques and cash on different occasions between January 1, 2025, and August 4, 2026.

However, despite receiving the money, the couple allegedly failed to execute the sale deed and repeatedly postponed the registration by citing various reasons.

When the complainant demanded either the registration of the plot or a refund, Kamlesh and Pooja allegedly neither transferred ownership nor returned the money, causing a financial loss of over ₹40 lakh.

Based on the complaint, Sakkardara Police have registered a case under Sections 318(4) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
