Nagpur: In a deeply emotional incident that has touched residents across Saket Nagar, an elderly couple who spent their lives together passed away within moments of each other while undergoing treatment in a hospital.

Mitthu Singh Rathore, fondly known as ‘Babuji’, and his wife Shanti Devi Rathore, affectionately called ‘Jijiyama’, had remained devoted companions throughout their lives. In a poignant coincidence, both were admitted to the same hospital and were being treated on adjacent beds.

According to family members, the couple breathed their last at nearly the same time, leaving relatives and hospital staff overwhelmed by the extraordinary turn of events.

Their bond continued even after death. The couple’s final journey was carried out together, and their last rites were performed side by side at the cremation ground, leaving mourners with tearful eyes.

The incident has become a talking point across Saket Nagar and nearby localities, with many describing it as a rare example of lifelong love, unwavering trust, and companionship. Residents said the couple’s story reflects a relationship that remained unbroken until their final breath.
