Bhiwandi, Maharashtra: Veteran actor Pradeep Rawat, best known for portraying the menacing villain Ghajini Dharmatma opposite Aamir Khan in Ghajini, passed away on Tuesday evening at a hospital in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. He was 74.

According to his business manager, Siddharth Tiwari, Rawat had been battling blood cancer for several years. Although he had previously overcome the disease, he suffered a relapse and his health deteriorated over the past two months, leading to repeated hospitalisation

Rawat was initially undergoing treatment at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai before being shifted to a specialised cancer facility in Bhiwandi, where he breathed his last.

Known for his powerful screen presence, Pradeep Rawat carved a niche for himself by portraying memorable villainous roles in Hindi and South Indian cinema. While his performance in Ghajini remains one of his most iconic roles, he also appeared in several films across multiple languages during a career spanning decades.

He is survived by his wife, Kalyani Rawat, and son, Vikramaditya Rawat.

The news of his demise has prompted condolences from members of the film industry and fans, who have remembered him for his impactful performances and lasting contribution to Indian cinema.
