Nagpur: In a major step towards improving urban mobility and last-mile connectivity, Maha Metro, in collaboration with Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), has launched a dedicated feeder bus service for students and staff of Priyadarshini College of Engineering. The initiative is expected to significantly ease daily commuting in the busy Hingna educational corridor.
The feeder bus service was officially flagged off on April 20, 2026, in the presence of senior college officials, Maha Metro representatives, transport partners, and faculty members. Present at the inauguration were Dr. Shrikrishna A. Dhale, Principal of Priyadarshini College of Engineering, Dr. Prashant R. Rothe, Registrar, Dr. Virendra K. Taksande, Dean of Student Affairs, Mr. Purshottam Nimsarkar, Operations Manager of Chalo Mobility, and Mr. Mahesh Moroney, Joint General Manager of Maha Metro.
The launch marks another milestone for Nagpur Metro’s integrated transport network and reflects growing collaboration between civic bodies, metro authorities, and educational institutions to address commuter concerns.
Relief for Lokmanya Nagar Metro Station Traffic Congestion
The Lokmanya Nagar Metro Station T-point has long faced heavy traffic congestion, especially during peak hours. The area witnesses constant movement of two-wheelers, cars, and auto-rickshaws, making travel slow and inconvenient for commuters.
Officials said the newly introduced feeder bus service offers a structured and efficient solution to this issue by reducing dependency on private vehicles and intermediate transport modes.
Route Between Lokmanya Nagar Metro Station and Priyadarshini College
The feeder service will connect Lokmanya Nagar Metro Station directly to Priyadarshini College of Engineering, one of the major institutions in the Hingna belt. The bus timings have been aligned with college schedules, ensuring reliable and affordable transport for students, teaching staff, and employees.
Authorities believe the service will help reduce travel time, improve safety, and provide weather-resilient connectivity for daily passengers.
Encouraging Public Transport Use in Nagpur
Metro officials stated that the new service is the result of commuter feedback and access studies conducted earlier. They expressed confidence that such feeder services will encourage greater use of public transport while supporting Nagpur’s sustainable mobility goals.
The initiative is also expected to reduce the number of auto-rickshaws and private vehicles around the metro station area, easing congestion and lowering emissions.
Strengthening Nagpur’s Urban Transport Vision
With the feeder bus service now operational, commuters travelling to Priyadarshini College of Engineering can expect smoother and more convenient journeys. The move further strengthens Nagpur’s vision of integrated, efficient, and environmentally friendly urban transport solutions led by Maha Metro and NMC.
