Nagpur Man Held for Illegally Tying Up Cattle for Slaughter in Pachpaoli, Nine Animals Rescued

Nagpur: Pachpaoli Police have apprehended a man for allegedly keeping nine cattle tied up without food and water, in preparation for illegal slaughter in the Tekadi area of Nagpur.


Acting on a tip-off received during a routine patrol between 4:20 am and 6:30 am on Wednesday, April 30, the police raided the residence of the accused, identified as Imran Qureshi Ibrahim Qureshi (32), a resident of Mutton Galli, Azad Nagar, Tekadi. The raid revealed that nine live bovines were cruelly tied inside a shed adjacent to his home without proper care, indicating they were intended for slaughter.


The police seized the animals along with slaughter tools including iron rods and nylon ropes, collectively valued at around ₹1.35 lakh. The rescued cattle have been handed over to a nearby cowshed for care.


Following a complaint by Police Constable Imran Shaikh, an FIR has been registered against Qureshi under Sections 5, 5(b), and 9 of the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act, 1976 (Amendment Act 1995) and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is ongoing.


The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, Additional CP Nisar Tamboli, North Region Additional CP Pramod Shewale, DCP Mahank Swami, and ACP Shweta Khade, and was led by Senior PI Baburao Raut along with officers Rahmat Shaikh, Rajendra Jadhav, Dnyaneshwar Bhoge, Imran Shaikh, Romesh Menewar, Gagan Yadav, Santosh Shendre, and Rahul Chikhate.
